Digital tools for teaching and Information Security

The key digital tools for teaching at Tampere Universities are compiled in an interactive “Onion Model” of digital tools for teaching. When selecting digital tools to support your teaching, prioritise those listed in the Onion Model, as they have been procured for use by members of the higher education community and meet information security and data protection requirements. The Onion Model does not include services or tools outside the higher education community (such as social media). These may also be used, but their use always requires that you familiarise yourself with their terms of use and comply with both those terms and the instructions of the higher education community.

Artificial Intelligence

The teacher is responsible for defining and communicating the principles for the use of artificial intelligence at the course or assignment level. You must also provide sufficiently clear instructions on how the use of artificial intelligence should be reported. Permitted and prohibited uses of artificial intelligence are illustrated using the AI traffic light model, which should be further clarified by adding your own specifications, for example related to working methods or assignments. At Tampere Universities, Microsoft Copilot Chat is primarily used via TUNI credentials. More detailed guidelines are available on the intranet and IT instructions.

Accessible Teaching and Individual Study Arrangements

Accessible teaching refers to the planning, delivery and assessment of teaching in a way that supports all students’ opportunities to participate, learn and demonstrate their competence regardless of their personal characteristics, backgrounds or life situations. A student may also need individual support, in which case the student may be granted individual study arrangements.
