Today, firms are establishing market leadership through digital transformation, indicating organizational change in which digital technologies are applied. Such an organizational change will have critical impact on the development of new products and services, on the enhancement of efficiency, and on the establishment of future strategy. This digital revolution is rapidly transforming the foundation of many companies in different sectors of the economy. Not only executives and managers need to understand digital transformation, but any knowledge worker should acquaint themselves with the technology changes and management practices of digital transformation to ensure corporate and personal success. In other words, digital transformation is fundamental to firms at every level, and being excellent in managing this process is critical to their competitiveness.
The course introduces you to the economic and technological principles underlying digital transformation, and the pros and cons of current digital technologies. In addition, it assists you in identifying different business models, and organizing and leading digital transformation initiatives. The course materials integrate knowledge across functional boundaries, and the main focus is on the managerial skills and capabilities which are necessary for effective practice. In particular, we discuss about the changing role of information system management and information technology department.
