COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Faculty of Social Sciences (Tampere University) has a bilateral collaboration agreement with Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) in Manipal, Karnataka, India. MAHE is a top-level private university located in the small Manipal town. The Unit of Health Sciences has had teacher and student exchange and joint projects with the Prasanna School of Public Health at MAHE in the field of public and global health in 2017-2019.
The Prasanna School of Public Health also arranges short courses for international student groups. The short courses introduce different components of the local health care system, the public health system and the social and cultural context in India to international student groups. The short courses consist mainly of field visits. The Prasanna School of Public Health will arrange a one-week course for students from Tampere University in February 2025. The course provides an opportunity to learn on-site about health problems, public health challenges, and the healthcare system from a local perspective in India's enormous and varied context.
