This course introduces students to qualitative research methodologies. The course emphasizes the design, implementation, analysis, and ethical conduct of qualitative studies, preparing students to critically design and carry out qualitative research in social sciences.

Students will develop an understanding of key qualitative research traditions, data collection methods (with particular attention to interviews), and analytical approaches. The course also provides hands-on exposure to qualitative data analysis software (MAXQDA) and addresses the responsible and ethical use of artificial intelligence in research. Throughout the course, students are encouraged to reflect on their positionality as researchers and to critically engage with literature and theory as integral components of qualitative inquiry.

The course culminates in a small-scale course assignment.
