The course introduces what conducting feminist research entails: how to choose, motivate and formulate a research theme, research questions, research methods, and research ethics; how to conduct one’s research accordingly; and what it means to do feminist analysis and write academic texts in Gender Studies. The emphasis will be on practical work in planning the students' upcoming Master's thesis projects - a major task in the course will be writing a research plan for your thesis.

The face-to-face seminar meets in Linna 4026, in periods III and IV, according to the programme (not every week) on Wednesdays either at 10-12 or 10-13.

The course relies on the idea of process writing and the students' drafts for research plans will be read and discussed together. During the course, each student will write two versions of idea papers for their Master's thesis project, and two versions of research plan, and act as an opponent in a discussion on another student's research plan.
