Description

Learning outcomes

After completing the course, the students will have a good knowledge of the fundamentals and applications of biocatalysis and enzymology. The course will cover the biochemical/chemical principles of biocatalysis, including background information related to different aspects of biocatalysis, enzyme kinetics (including reaction mechanisms, inhibition, energetics, etc.), non-protein groups (mainly coenzymes), enzymes immobilization, enzyme catalysis in unconventional media, and industrial applications. The course will also briefly introduce some advanced techniques in biocatalysis and ways of improving the performance of biocatalysts.
