A container for periodic meetings of the NISEC Reading Group.

In these regular meetings, each member of the group will present either

  • an interesting article they recently read
  • something interesting they have been working on
  • a rehearsal for an upcoming conference presentation
  • something cool they happened to read about and might present new research/teaching opportunities
  • misc. related stuff

As a motivation to participate in the group as a presenter:

  • it is good training for honing your presentation skills
  • with the number of people we currently have onboard your turn will come at most twice per semester (unless you explicitly request to be granted an extra slot to reharse before a conference or something similar)
  • environment is very informal and friendly: it's just us, you get honest feedback and interesting follow-up questions
  • it can spark new paper/grant ideas for ultimate profit and academic world domination
  • it's a great way to stay on top of the various things we care about or those that seem too daunting to be tackled on your own (did I say PQC math???) but you always wished to know more about
  • it's also a great venue to have new additions to the group present their skillset and spark collaboration
  • it's very good practice for master students joining us for projects to gain insight on what is it that researchers do the whole day!
